Anti-Tarnish Jewellery

What anti-tarnish jewellery actually means

Every fashion jewellery brand in India now says "anti-tarnish". Most of it is a thin gold flash over brass with a spray coat, and it darkens within a month of sweat and monsoon. ENSIA's definition is stricter: 18K gold plated over stainless steel — a base metal that cannot oxidise — sealed with a clear anti-tarnish coat, and backed by a promise that if the finish fades in normal wear within six months, we replace the piece.

Why the base metal is the whole story

Tarnish is the base metal reacting through the gold. Brass and copper react; stainless steel does not. That is why an ENSIA hoop worn through a Mumbai monsoon looks the same in October as it did in June, while a brass hoop at the same price has a green edge by July. The coat on top slows wear on the gold itself; the steel underneath is what stops the green.

What's in the range

  • Earrings — hoops, studs, drops and pearls, all with stainless steel posts.
  • Necklaces — chains and pendants with extenders, 40–45 cm.
  • Bracelets and cuffs — adjustable open cuffs and slim bangles.
  • Rings — mostly adjustable, sizes 12–18.
  • Bag charms — clip-on charms that handle rain.

What "water-resistant" covers, and what it doesn't

Showers, rain, sweat, hand-washing and sanitiser: fine. Chlorinated pools and the sea: take it off, or rinse in fresh water straight after. Perfume and hairspray: put jewellery on last. These three habits double the life of any plated jewellery, ours included. Read why gold plated jewellery tarnishes for the full explanation.

The 6-month promise

If the gold finish fades or discolours under normal wear within six months of delivery, message us on WhatsApp with a photo and your order number and we send a replacement. It covers the finish; it doesn't cover bending, breakage or chemical damage. No other plated jewellery brand in India at this price gives a written time frame — that is the difference between saying anti-tarnish and meaning it.

Questions people ask about anti-tarnish jewellery

What is anti-tarnish jewellery?

Jewellery whose base metal and coating stop it darkening or discolouring from sweat and humidity. ENSIA uses 18K gold plating over stainless steel (which can't oxidise) plus a protective coat.

Does anti-tarnish jewellery last forever?

No plated jewellery does. Expect 1–2 years of daily wear before the finish shows age, and no skin reactions at any point. ENSIA replaces pieces that fade in normal wear within 6 months.

Is anti-tarnish the same as waterproof?

No. Anti-tarnish is about the base metal and coat; water-resistant means showers and rain are fine. Neither means you should swim in it.

Is it hypoallergenic?

Yes. Stainless steel is nickel-safe and used for surgical implants; every ENSIA piece is nickel-free.

What does ENSIA anti-tarnish jewellery cost?

Rs. 599 to Rs. 2,599, with most pieces under Rs. 1,300. Free delivery across India, COD available.
