Jewellery you don't take off for the shower

"Waterproof" is the most searched word in Indian fashion jewellery and the least honest. Here is our version: ENSIA pieces are water-resistant for real life — showers, rain, sweat, hand-washing, sanitiser — because they are 18K gold plated over stainless steel with an anti-tarnish coat. They are not for chlorinated pools or the sea; no plated jewellery is, whatever the listing says.

What water actually does to jewellery

Water on its own does little. Sweat and humidity react with brass and copper bases and creep through the plating, which is why cheap hoops darken in a monsoon week. Chlorine and salt attack the gold layer itself. Stainless steel removes the first problem entirely; the anti-tarnish coat slows the second. What to take off

Long drops that can catch, anything with pearls before a swim (water loosens any pearl setting over time), and everything before a pool or beach. If you forget, rinse in fresh water and pat dry — that alone prevents most damage.

Backed for six months

If the finish fades in normal wear — showers included — within six months of delivery, we replace the piece. It is the same promise on every ENSIA product, and the reason we can say water-resistant without a footnote.
